Instead of merely forgetting one round of anniversaries & birthdays, you can have the opportunity to be entirely oblivious of a whole constellation of ‘em.
Not to mention the Fatal Attraction-style, homicidal jealousies & violent rampages. And that’s just me.

Anyone who thinks human relationships are designer: that you can just make up whatever kind of relationship you want because human nature is malleable, is so obviously wrong on the basic fundamentals that the only way they could have any good advice for anyone would have to be completely by accident.
