From the physician behind the wildly popular website Nutrition Facts, How Not to Die reveals the groundbreaking scientific evidence behind the only diet that can prevent and reverse many of the causes of disease-related death.
The vast majority of premature deaths can be prevented through simple changes in diet and lifestyle. In How Not to Die, Dr. Michael Greger, the internationally renowned nutrition expert, physician, and founder of Nutrition Facts, examines the 15 top causes of premature death in America - heart disease, various cancers, diabetes, Parkinson’s, high blood pressure, and more - and explains how nutritional and lifestyle interventions can sometimes trump prescription pills and other pharmaceutical and surgical approaches, freeing us to live healthier lives.
The simple truth is that most doctors are good at treating acute illnesses but bad at preventing chronic disease. The 15 leading causes of death claim the lives of 1.6 million Americans annually. This doesn’t have to be the case. By following Dr. Greger’s advice, all of it backed up by strong scientific evidence, you will learn which foods to eat and which lifestyle changes to make to live longer.
History of prostate cancer in your family? Put down that glass of milk, and add flaxseed to your diet whenever you can. Have high blood pressure? Hibiscus tea can work better than a leading hypertensive drug - and without the side effects. Fighting off liver disease? Drinking coffee can reduce liver inflammation. Battling breast cancer? Consuming soy is associated with prolonged survival. Worried about heart disease (the number-one killer in the United States)? Switch to a whole-food, plant-based diet, which has been repeatedly shown not just to prevent the disease but often to stop it in its tracks.
In addition to showing what to eat to help treat the top 15 causes of death, How Not to Die includes Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen - a checklist of the 12 foods we should consume every day. Full of practical, actionable advice and surprising, cutting-edge nutritional science, these doctor’s orders are just what we need to live longer, healthier lives.

It’s almost too easy. I see these titles, I check myself, and then I know it’s a healthaudio torrent. A little reality check for you: we all die, whether or not we waste our money on snakeoil.

The title might be truncated from “how not to die from easily avoidable chronic diseases associated with Western diets”. That’s 90+% of cardiovascular and acquired metabolic diseases, ~40% of cancers, significant amounts of the other leading causes of death. Most material is adaptations of the scripts of the 1500+ videos at nutritionfacts.org There may appear to be a bias towards whole food plant based diets, but spend time on Scholar and you’ll find its fully justified.

Worth a listen. He does have an agenda in so far as he promotes the value of plant based diets. The difference is he does a lot of research and attempts to justify his point of view with considerable success. His videos a free to watch if you want to get an idea.

While he’s not *as bad* as a *lot* of the other, similar torrents one can find here, he’s still guilty of cherry-picking his research papers. For every decent nugget I found on his site, there were a number more that focused on quoting papers without context. You can’t construct an argument by ignoring the evidence against it and only finding evidence that supports your view. That is *not* science.

Yes, we all die, but it’s the quality of life we have while we’re alive that counts. I’ve been on a whole food plant based diet for the last 2 years and it’s been life-changing.

Thanks for sharing! I find it funny that woke typically equates to not being a total self-centered d-bag based on the typical comments from these trolls. Blame may be easier but it’s a sad existence when you constantly blame others for you situation and make fun of people that want to make the most of their lives. Sad, lol. ✌️
