Whatever Lipton says should be taken with a grain of salt … or a tablespoonful … no, make that a mountain of salt.
Some time in the 1980s, he quit science.
“My research irritated a lot of people. I always thought of them as lemmings running off the cliff of DNA, […] they marginalised my work because it didn’t conform to their conventional beliefs […] And I just left the system. I realised the message is more important for the average person than it is to argue in the halls of science”.
In other words: “There’s a motorist driving against the traffic? It’s not just one car. It’s hundreds of them!”
