Capitalist ideology wants us to believe that there is an optimal way to live. “Making connections” means networking for work. Our emotional needs are to be fulfilled by a single romantic partner, and self-care equates to taking personal responsibility for our suffering. We must be productive and heteronormative; we must have babies and buy a house. But the kicker is most people cannot and do not want to achieve all or any of these life goals. Instead, we are left feeling atomized, exhausted, and disempowered.
Radical Intimacy shows that it doesn’t need to be this way. A punchy and impassioned account of inspiring ideas about alternative ways to live. Sophie K. Rosa demands we use our radical imagination to discover a new form of intimacy and to transform our personal lives and in turn society as a whole.
Including critiques of the “wellness” industry that ignores rising poverty rates, the mental health crisis, and racist and misogynist state violence; transcending love and sex under capitalism to move towards feminist, decolonial, and queer thinking; asking whether we should abolish the family; interrogating the framing of aging and death and much more. Radical Intimacy is the compassionate antidote to a callous society.

I hate that word, “heteronormative”, it seems to imply that its somehow a bad thing for someone to assume any given person acts in a away 90+% of anyone given person likely acts. And that 90+% of people acting a certain way doesn’t constitute a “norm”.

Thank you! Please seed!
@z3nkai sounds like that’s your trigger for you to explore personally for yourself the implications of why that seems to be a bad thing since “heteronormative” means the assumption that heterosexuality is the only, normal, and natural expression of sexuality. Also, I think it’s closer to 80% but people who live in heteronormative only cultures might not feel safe to explore that side of them or even be aware of it due to the social standard

The book description is just a whirlwind tour of the nonsense that attention-seeking nobodies spout to sound intelligent, while sadfishing and trying to carve out a victim identity.
Don’t worry Sophie K. Rosa, you’ll find a little community of like-minded simpletons to soothe your ego soon enough.

Yall, these comments are hilarious. People be on here trying to shame authors and minorities who can’t respond, only to reveal their own issues, unmet needs and insecurities. No need to seed, I’m going to buy this. Especially if it gets such antimodern ultra rightist panties in a bunch that they think doing this is a useful time of their one and only life here on earth!

@Lady_Leona
They spend literally all day on here, squealing and honking at anything written by or for anyone other than straight, white American men.
The most insecure people I’ve seen on the internet this side of an incel forum.

I always check the comments, because there’s always someone saying, essentially, “I don’t fully understand this… and it frightens me and makes me feel hostile!”
