The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous bestseller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be.
Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of twentieth century psychology, this book follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others. It’s a way of thinking that is deeply liberating, allowing us to develop the courage to change, and to ignore the limitations that we and those around us have placed on ourselves. The result is a book that is both highly accessible and profound in its importance. Millions have already read and benefitted from its wisdom.
This is a truly special book in the vein of Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up but for the mind. Those ready to embrace the insights and liberation promised by The Courage to Be Disliked will come to a deeper understanding of themselves and others, and find the inspiration to take the reins of their own life.

So my lifestyle choices are courageous now?
Yeah, go f**k all of you, and I’ll thank you to hate me back. Let’s all show courage together. ❤

bengle_moody - “So my lifestyle choices are courageous now?” No that is not the point the author is trying to make. The choices themself don’t really matter - it’s that you are making choices that, in your case, are not conservative daddy approved. Coming out of the closet is courageous….especially with so many bitter, enraged people like you still around.
I feel sorry for all the guys who secretly breath a sigh of relief after hyper critical daddy dies.
.
bengle_moody, don’t you think it’s even just a little strange that you would get so enraged over a book you did not read? I guess it don’t take much to trigger the humans in this day & age.
It kind of reminds me of all the stupid climate change Duh-niers totally losing their shit every time that tiny little girl from Sweden, Greta, appears on US MSM, and say 1, 12 second sentence - comment sections explode with rage. It’s so easy to prove how powerful the propaganda these deniers listen to is.
Only propaganda can get a sub-tribe so utterly enraged over an imaginary threat. No not climate change, that;s all too real. The thing Duh-niers complained about going back to the late 1980’s when James Hansen and other scientists gave the first ‘No doubt’ global warming is happening and no doubt it’s humans causing it warnings and if we don’t change our collective behaviour there will be consequences from bad to existentialist. Not for one second have the, pro economic growth conservatives/climate change deniers cared about that. Their entire protest from day one has been and remains that ‘FORCING’ them to curb their fossil fuel consumption will harm economic growth/their reason for existing. So thus began the ‘Fossil Fuel Freedom’ campaigns lead by the late great emotional button pushing master Rush Limbaugh. The collective climate change denial campaign annual budget has long been about 1 billion dollars and it’s been a shot gun blast stratrgery - attack all claims. Fossil fuel freedom killers has been a big one. The problem with that one can easily be spotted by anyone who bothered to take a look at fossil fuel consumption data which can be expressed in very simple and easy to understand terms in chart or graph form and in the 37 years since 1988 when global warming became politicized big time, fossil fuel extraction and consumption has gone up almost every year with the exception of a few minor dips and 2020(Covid), 1988 = 74 million barrels per day to 2023 100 million barrels per day, yet all the while the duped deniers yell louder and louder that their fossil fuels are being taken away. More energy = more economic growth = exactly what they want, yet their bitching and moaning keeps ratcheting up. What do you call people who get what they want, yet still cry like babies? Since 1988 the world has gone through the biggest economic boom in human history and it was all made possible by fossil fuels with oil to make diesel as the master resource. Natural gas is vital for agriculture for fertilizers. As for coal in America, there never was a ‘war on coal’. It was mostly super affordable and abundant fracked natural gas went to war on coal and later wind power, and won. Nat gas and wind power (lead by Texas) out competed coal in the magical ‘market’. That’s classic economics, not environmentalism stealing jobs. The so called ‘Fracking revolution’, cheered by every pro growth conservative, is what ‘killed coal’ not environmental regulation. The loss of coal industry jobs and revenue did indeed suck for already improvised areas like West Virginia, but other areas, in Texas, Pennsylvania, N Dakota etc boomed. The entire notion of a war on coal was a bought and paid for propaganda campaign by some very desperate big coal companies and such, same as climate change denial campaigns and it’s the same suck dupes who fall for it. US lefty’s are dupes for different stuff. So what do you call someone who is angry and fearful over something (fossil fuel’s stolen) that does not and has never existed? How about paranoid and delusional. Anyone who bothered to look at the stats would not have lost it, like deniers have. You would think anyone with such strong anger and fear inducing beliefs in regards to their access to fossil fuels would have done some basic, elementary school level research, before spend 20 years online yelling at “libtards” and fertilizing the internet with their shitty beliefs. What it boils down to with deniers is it’s a matter of faith. Faith=belief without evidence. Some Talk Radio yapper told them a story or they watched a lame Doc on YouTube spinning a narrative and they bought it hook, line and sinker.
Now all the climate predictions have come to pass with the only thing of signifagance they were off on, is the timing. The last 10 years most claime change papers contian some version of the phrase - Faster Than Expected. American towns and cities ore being torn up by storms and flooding or are burning down.
I;m 60 yo and can tell you it’s only been within the last decade that we can no longer prevent our cities and towns from burning. LA this year, Maui last year. Paradise California and huge area surrounding in 2018. Gatinburg Tennsee and wide area of the smokey mountian forest surronding in 2016. It’s not just in America that towns and cities are burning from global warming Jacked wildfires. Increased temps has lead to increased droughts and evaporation and turned everything that is even remotely combustible in tinder, just needing one spark and POOF! 40 year veteran firefighters around the world are stunned and many say the fire are behaving in ways they have never seen before and were not taught about. Humans are at the height of their wealth, knowledge, experience and technology, and yet they can no longer prevent their towns and cities from burning. Tell yourself it’s a hoax and everything will be fine or go with American bubble head Marjorie Taylor Green who says “They” are using a ‘Jewish space lazer’ to start the fires and that ‘The Government controls the weather’ MTG is the government duh. The only option the humans have left themselves is preparation for more record smashing disasters and trying to build up defenses to protect infrastructure and homes and business, where feasible. To me it looks like most people and nations are not in acting upon the final option. Nations and cities and towns that don’t will likely suffer first and worst. I’ve never advocated for big behavioural changes like giving up most fossil fuels and such and not because it would not work to slow climate change, but because radical shifts in behavior are just not possible with force or the threat of it.

*Natural gas and wind energy killed coal, not ‘war on coal’*
Published:5/7/2018 By Andrew Sorensen
.
“Cheap natural gas prices and the increasing availability of wind energy are pummeling the coal industry more than regulation, according to a new economic analysis from CU Boulder and North Carolina State University.
Co-lead author Daniel Kaffine, CU Boulder associate professor in economics, looked at natural gas, wind and coal-fired power generation across 20 U.S. states from 2008 to 2013 in the study, which was published in the American Economic Journal this month.
The study found a “significant” link between plummeting natural gas prices, increased wind generation capability and the drop-off in U.S. coal burning.
“While either factor in isolation would have cut into coal’s share of the market, the combination of the two factors proved to be a potent one-two punch,” Kaffine said.
When the researchers applied 2013 natural gas prices and wind generation levels to the 2008 energy market, they found utilities likely would have cut coal-fired generation overnight. That suggests federal regulations like the 2014 Clean Power Plan have not been main drivers in the decline of coal-generated electricity in the U.S.
“The biggest single factor here is the decline in natural gas prices due to advances in drilling and production technologies used in natural gas extraction,” Kaffine said. “To the extent there is a ‘war on coal’, it’s a war being fought primarily in the marketplace between gas and coal.”
Coal-fired generation, according to the paper, dropped roughly 25 percent from 2007 to 2013, while natural gas prices decreased dramatically, largely due to hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. Wind generation increased over that period thanks to state-level renewable energy portfolio standards and declining costs.
The study, The Fall of Coal: Joint Impacts of Fuel Prices and Renewables on Generation and Emissions, found natural gas prices had a larger impact on nationwide coal-fired generation than wind, but geography plays a factor Kaffine said.”
